 Bringing France to 2008

Bringing France to 2008
TO any place, its biggest asset is usually the people. And France has said to have the most romantic people in the planet. It’s not just because French (which has a Romance etymology) is said to be the most poetic and therefore the most romantic language in the world, it’s because the people in France are the most intellectual and the most intellectual people are usually the ones who can concoct things up on how to be romantic. Of course, there is no one in France who is more romantic than its president himself, Nicholas Sarkozy, who is set to marry his model girlfriend this year. So romance is definitely in the air the whole 365 days of 2008 here in France so it’s really nice to have a vacation here whether during summer, spring or autumn. The Mediterranean coast of France is very nice to live in since diet there is restricted mostly to seafood sautéed in olive oil which is the healthiest cooking oil in the world due to its low fat content. Aside from that, the Mediterranean coast of France has Agde, the largest nudist resort in the world. It is not just a beach resort, it is also a shopping mall but all the staff is in the nude. Isn’t that lovely?

But the thing I look forward more this year in France is the annual Cannes film festival. It will be held sometime in May. In this weeklong festival, it is not just the abundance of movies that you’ll get but the abundance of food as well. Binge around local stuff like cod dipped in garlic sauce, sea bass in lime, beef fillet dipped in foie gras and wild boar. This is the essence of French elegant dining.

Meanwhile, the French government has joined the bandwagon in calling for the preserving of the environment which was first launched into worldwide attention by the former vice president of the United States, Al Gore, in his film An Inconvenient Truth. Sarkozy, the French president, is having skepticism in nuclear energy and genetically modified crops. These may be ticklish subjects but the French government has started to take care of the environment in its own little ways such as preventing overfishing. In maintaining all the beach resorts in France clean, it has tapped the help of the European Union as well as the Swiss hotel school industry. The European Union is periodically inspecting all beaches in France to conform to environmental standards while selected Swiss hotel schools are training their students on how to be environment-friendly and churning out these graduates to the French hospitality sector.

Because of their nationalistic pride and tourism status, the French are now more confident not to adapt foreign languages. In fact, all English programs in the state-owned television network have been scrapped at the turn of this year. This is indeed a testament on how France handles its policies elegantly. Kudos to the French!

 Living the Life in France

Living the Life in France
FRANCE is now the target of tourists as winter approaches. Have you ever heard about the French Alps? Well, actually, this is the premier tourist destination in Europe during winter. This is because the French Alps has everything that takes place as far as wintry sports and other tourism activities are concerned – alpine skiing, dog sled racing, even mountain hiking, horseback riding and biking are at stake. One of the hottest businesses here aside from tour organizers and site caretakers is real estate. This is because France has the most number of spectacular sights when it comes to the season.

Snow is virtually everywhere and one has to indulge in layers and layers of clothing so as to maintain body temperature. Just make sure not to don something cottony as this will surely make you cold for cotton absorbs moisture. Temperatures will drop down to -3 degrees Celsius.
France is also a religious country when it comes to Christmas season. There will be masses every morning for nine days preceding Christmas. On the commercial side of things, everything is literally lighted up – from the Eiffel Tower to the Louvre. Being a predominantly Catholic nation, France celebrates Christmas religiously. That is, if you do not include Cap d’Agde. As the name suggests, Cap d’Agde is located in Agde somewhere in the southeastern portion of the country facing the Mediterranean. Cap d’Agde is actually a domed campus where only nudists roam. These nudists still have their own peculiar way of celebrating Christmas.

Of course, a few communities in France are Muslim and they do not celebrate Christmas at all. They are however excited to usher in the New Year with a bang and just like the rest of the world, elaborate fireworks can be seen raining down from the sky cascading towards River Seine below.

When it comes to real estate, the most common attraction here is the mountain cabin. Albeit sort of isolated, mountain cabins are spectacular for tourists because of the splendid views one is endowed to in the cabin’s surroundings. But to get to a mountain cabin, you need someone to be with you though. No one is advised there to reside alone for practical purposes. Of course, there are no wild bears and such in the Alps but what’s at stake here is the life of the tourist. Thus, this policy is strictly implemented during the holiday season all throughout France.

It is also heartwarming to note that France is peopled with warm people who are always eager to help foreigners out. They should know because tourism is one of the lifeblood of their economy. Of course, France was the center of the Industrial Revolution a few centuries and up until now; it has a very vibrant industry. But one cannot deny that tourism has also played a major role in its sustenance especially after World War II and even up to this day. So what are you waiting for? Come here and have a fulfilling life this Christmas season in France.
